3-way active splitter in BOX

This active splitter allows you to split one antenna into multiple RX. The splitter can also be used to split a reference frequency, for example 10MHz. The outputs have high isolation and minimal difference in splitting. The input includes a diode limiter and the preamp gain can be varied by an output attenuator.

Description

This 3-way active splitter in BOX is a very useful device. It can provide equal voltages, equal current, or equal power to matched or unmatched loads. This is active splitter version where you can switch ON high IP, low noise preamplifier and eliminate insertion loss of the splitter. Gain can be set as you need by the Variable ATT at PCB. This HW is designed only for RX line. There are some more high current and voltage protections on all ports. Both impedances 50 or 75 Ohm can be selected by je jumper.

  • Impedance 50 or 75 Ohm
  • Insertion loss with preamp OFF: around 6 dB
  • Insertion loss with preamp ON: compensated by preamp, up to gain around 12 dB (in to out)
  • Very low difference between output ports, less than 0.1 dB @ 50 MHz
  • Isolation > 17 dB port 1-2 and 2-3, > 23 dB port 1-3
  • SWR on OUTPUT ports better than 1 : 1.1 on HF, resp. 1 : 1.19 on 6m
  • SWR on IN port around 1 : 1.2 to 1 : 1.7 depends on gain of preamp (Gain 10 dB = SWR 1 : 1.2)
  • Preamp transistor 2SC5551A
  • Supply voltage 12 - 14 V (13.8 V recommended)
  • BIAS current 10 to 70 mA (preset to 40 mA @ 13.8 V)
  • Supply current up to 180 mA includes relays!
  • Gain: up to 14 dB
  • Low Noise Figure (NF) 1.2 dB (20 mA 50 MHz)
  • Low Noise Figure (NF) < 2 dB (60 mA 50 MHz)
  • REAL IP3 34 dBm
  • Input diode limiter about +24 dBm
  • Bypass of the Preamp without supply voltage
